Duane
Cross and Gerry Gillette own and operate Montana Hinge and
Hardware. Duane spent 30 years in the metal trades as a machinist,
tool and die maker, manufacturing machines such as sawmills
and cranes for the timber industry. After retiring Duane became
interested in blacksmithing, so he built a new shop, installing
his regular machinist equipment as well as a forge and an
anvil.
When
Duane's new overhead shop door was being installed, the Bozeman
garage door manufacturer, seeing Duane's shop and work, suggested
that Duane make decorative garage door hardware. So began
Montana Hinge and Hardware with the vision of making rustic
door hardware for log homes, carriage houses, and barns.
It
is our intention at Montana Hinge and Hardware to produce
high quality and artistically satisfying decorative hardware
to meet the expectations of architects, homeowners, and contractors.
